Guitar 1 usually plays clean, guitar 2 with distortion. When only one guitar is marked, the other guitar usually plays chords that tie with the bass.
Guitar riff 4 (the lead guitar on the second part of the chorus) is _very_ hard to hear so I usually play palm-muted power chords that follow the bass instead (ie, D5, F, G5, Bb).
On the LP version guitar riff 6 (the bridge) is played with a tremolo effect. On live versions it's played with a sustained 'synth' type sound.
Lyrics/Chords ------------- Dm Bb Cold still waters running deep, pale before the eyes
C G Ravaged, by the hands that feed, thunder clouds the skies
Dm Bb Drifting with the tide, floating with the stream
C G The howling winds have gathered strength, from a whisper to a scream
D5 G5 D5 G5 Sell me down the river, and out to sea
D5 F G5 Bb Cast me adrift and set me to sail, Just one last kiss before raising hell
C Dm D D5 Beyond the pale, Beyond the pale
[Then main riff twice over D5, Bb, G5, C sequence] [Following verse chorus as above]
Heed to Neptune's calling deceived in fable and lore Learn from treacherous bibles Of murder, hate and war Searching for the tears In an ocean of rain The yearning of the raging sea beckons once again
Sell me down the river, and out to sea Cast me adrift and set me to sail Just one last kiss before raising hell Beyond the pale, beyond the pale
[Instrumental Bridge]
Gathering of the storm And the winds are blowing wild Sweeping over cross and creed, country, colour and child Mother nature cries for love Her children lost at sea And as the waves take me away Say a prayer for liberty
Sell me down the river And out to sea Cast me adrift and set me to sail Just one last kiss before raising hell
